Is there a Friendly Yoga studio?
Friendly Yoga doesn’t have a dedicated studio space. Classes are portable and flexible and I teach at a variety of locations, including homes, studios, schools, libraries, and other locations in the surrounding communities. Most of my classes are currently taught in a large, lovely space at the First Parish Church of Groton.
My child almost fits into one of your age categories – can I sign up for that class?
All age groupings are approximate. My goal is for each group of children to have similar developmental needs so that no one is bored or being asked to do something that’s way out of reach, physically, socially, or emotionally. I’m always happy to have a child try a class to see if it’s a good fit, so call or send me an email, and we can discuss the details.
Do you teach children with special needs?
Short answer: Yes, with pleasure! Long answer: Let’s talk about your individual child and figure out which kind of class is the best fit for his/her learning needs.
Do you allow drop-ins?
Yes and no. I usually teach sessions of 6 to 10 classes, and one of the important things that happens over the course of those classes is that trust and friendship develops within the group. Also, we can get the “basics” covered in the first class, when there usually are some new kids, and then we can dive right into the fun for the remainder of classes.
However, if your child would like to try a class before committing to a session and I have room in the class, I like to make that possible. Let’s talk!
Do you offer scholarships?
When you register online, you will see that I do offer a sliding scale registration rate. If payment is a concern, please contact me.
Do I have to do yoga too?
No. Some of the classes I teach, especially for children preschool age or younger, either suggest or require that a parent accompany the child. Parents are always welcome to join in our activities, but it is also fine for you to watch and just be nearby to support your child as needed.
I’m a firm believer that yoga is a great tool for any and everybody, no matter your age or current fitness/flexibility level, and if you know some yoga, it can be fun to stretch and relax with your child at home. So if that interests you, go for it!
Do you teach adults?
I sometimes include parents and teachers in my classes and workshops, but I do not currently teach classes specifically for adults. There are many excellent yoga teachers/studios in Groton and the surrounding towns, and I’d be happy to talk to you about some that might be a good fit for you.
Does Friendly Yoga offer children’s yoga teacher trainings?
I don’t train other teachers. I did my initial training with ChildLight Yoga in Dover, NH, and I recommend them highly if you are interested in learning to teach yoga to children.
How can I find out about future Friendly Yoga classes and workshops?
Join the Friendly Yoga mailing list, and you’ll be the first to find out when new classes and workshops are offered.
